Veeam Explorer For Active Directory

Veeam have just released a Beta version of their new Explorer for Active Directory. The new explorer joins Exchange and Sharepoint Explorer.
Basically Veeam Explorer for Active Directory allows you to restore Active Directory objects (Users, Groups, Contacts, Computers etc) directly from a virtual backup of a domain controller.

Previously using Veeam this type of restore required a Virtual lab, now we no longer need a virtual lab for AD restore. It is also important to note that this feature does not require Active Directory recycle bin to be enabled.

The final product will be released with Veeam Backup & Replication v8 in the up coming months, in the meantime a beta can be downloaded from here for use with Veeam Backup & Replication v7.

Hopefully they’ll be adding an Explorer for SQL, allowing us to perfom all major recovries with out the need for a virtual lab.

Keep up the good work Veeam
